Helping clients to achieve independence and live their lives to their fullest potential is the ultimate goal of an occupational therapy practitioner. As the director of Ameritech’s OTA program, I explore the varied and rewarding facets of a career as an occupational therapy assistant with our students, as they learn the skills needed to bring the distinct value of occupation to their clients of all ages and abilities. Students develop their professional identity as an occupational therapy practitioner through a program rich with hands-on experiences in a supportive learning environment. As a result, Ameritech students become agents of change for both their clients and for the OTA profession.
