Strong Job Outlook

The nursing field is projected to grow by 7% over the next 10 years versus just 4% for other occupations—and demand is expected to increase even more due to the aging baby boomer population. On average, an estimated 175,900 registered nurses will be hired nationwide each year between 2019 and 20291.

Make a Career Helping Others

As a nurse, you’ll make a living helping others and serve as a valuable member of a patient’s medical care team. You’ll make a difference and help save lives, while enjoying a satisfying and rewarding career for years to come.

Stay Competitive in Your Field

According to the AACN’s 2017 Annual Report, 49% of employers now require new nurses to have a BSN degree, while 86% strongly prefer BSN-prepared nurses.1 The Institute of Medicine has also recommended that by 2020, 80% of nurses earn their BSN.2 By pursuing your BSN now, you’ll be prepared when this degree becomes an employment requirement.

Become Eligible for Advanced Degrees

With a BSN degree, you’ll become eligible for more advanced degrees, including those for the higher paying nursing jobs: nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist, and more. Whatever path you choose, a BSN degree empowers you with the skills you need to pursue your educational and career goals.

Become a Better Nurse

(AACN) has aggregated numerous studies demonstrating that nurses with BSN degrees are more knowledgeable and proficient in their jobs with:

  • Lower patient mortality rates

Ameritech gave me a solid foundation for my nursing career. The staff were great. They were friendly, personable, and cared about our success as students. I appreciated the smaller class sizes that were conducive to focusing on our individual needs. I felt well prepared for the NCLEX and had no troubles passing it on the first attempt.

I have wanted to be a nurse for a long time because I truly feel like I was put on this earth to take care of people. I loved going to Ameritech- it was hard, but so worth it and I felt so well-prepared for the NCLEX. I also met some of my closest friends in nursing school. Now, I have a job at St. Mark’s Hospital and love it! I’m grateful for Ameritech’s nursing program, as the knowledge and understanding that I gained in school made my transition onto the hospital floor so much easier.
